Former winner enters Safari Rally |

Former Safari Rally winner and multiple Kenya National Rally champion, Ian Duncan, has entered the Kenya Airways East African Safari Classic Rally.
Driving a powerful 5-litre Ford Mustang, he will be navigated by his regular co-driver Amaar Slatch. The 1967 model Ford Mustang is currently being prepared at Duncan’s Karen workshops outside Nairobi.
During the 2005 Classic Safari, Duncan made an amazing recovery after his Ford Escort encountered electric problems in the very first section. He set fastest time through the famous Usambara Mountains section before crashing out in spectacular style near Moshi in Tanzania.
Ian Duncan won the Safari Rally in 1994 when it was a round of the World Rally Championship, driving a works Toyota Celica Turbo 4WD. He competed a total of fifteen times in the old Safari, finishing third overall on three other occasions.
Now he will join 52 other crews who have entered so far on the Safari Classic. The event will cover a gruelling 4,300 kilometres through the remote and beautiful landscapes of Kenya and Tanzania from November 25 to December 3.
“I am really looking forward to driving the Ford Mustang which will be very different to the Escort I drove in 2005. It should give me all the things I love in rallying in one event,” the four times Kenya rally champion said.
